PÃ¥ Danmarksfärjan hittade jag otroligt snazzy liten spelautomat. Jag kunde bara inte motstÃ¥ denna syndens maskin. Skulle DU kunna motstÃ¥ en färgkavalkad av denna kaliber? Tveksamt va? Dock vann jag inte ett skit. Men det gör inget. Ju mer jag studerat denna skapelse har jag blivit mer och mer intresserad av vem som ligger bakom designen. Jag beslöt mig för att försöka fÃ¥ reda pÃ¥ veta vem hon/han är, vart denne bor, Ã¥lder, yrke, när den gjordes och vad denne exakt tänkte när mustaschen sattes pÃ¥ plats…

Steg 1. Tillverkaren
Tillverkaren av maskingen heter IGT och är enligt egen utsago “the foremost supplier of gaming machines and gaming monitoring systems in the world” och var (därmed) föga svÃ¥r att hitta via Google. IGT har sitt huvudkontor i Reno, Nevada, och är även känd som “the BIGGEST little city in the world” och har lite mer än 340.000 invÃ¥nare. IGT är en förkortning av International Game Technology och grundades 1975 av William S. Redd.

Steg 2. Kontakt
Jag hade seriöst tänkt ringa till IGT, men jag hejdade mig och beslöt mig för att låta e-post bli mitt första försök till kontakt med företaget i fråga. För ca fem minuters sedan skickade jag följande mail:

“Hello IGT.

I’m writing to you from Gothenburg, Sweden.

A couple of weeks ago i visited Stena Line (www.stenaline.se) Gothenburg-Fredrikshavn ferry and I found this absolutely amazing slotmachine. The name is Wild Cherry, i attached a photo of the machine in the mail as well, and I found the artwork completely stunning. I became curious about the person who has designed this piece, and also in the machine itself. Here are some of the questions I would be very, very happy to get answered if possible:

- Which year is this machine model manufactured?
- How many of this machine are produced (qty)?
- Is there any design history archive for this machine? (the Wild Cherry designs over the years)
- What’s the name of the designer?
- What year is design made?
- Is there ANY possibility to get in touch with the designer? I would really like to make an interview in addition to the story.
- Is there ever any promotional items or merchandise printed with this design? (ads, stickers, fliers, t-shirts etc…)

I found a page on your website with a machine with the same name, “Wild Cherry”, but it’s not the perticular artwork I’m interested in, again, see the attached photo for the actual design.

You may see this e-mail a bit odd, but I ensure that this is not a joke, neither anything that in any way would or could harm the IGT trademark, a contrario, you’ll get free PR. I decided to make a story behind the design of the machine which I attached, where the goal is to find out who the person is that’s behind the design. I will, of course, link and promote my readers with information about the IGT company.

You would really make me happy if answering these questions, and if you have any additional information about the machine that could be of any value to my story, i would of course be very happy also. I will in return send you a translated version in english for you to view when the story is published.
